Welcome to the New North
Community High School
from Principal Stewart and the Superintendent
It gives us great pleasure to tell you about a significant and long-term investment the Minneapolis Public Schools is making in the New North Community High School. As part of the school district’s High School Transformation initiative, North Community High School will be named the first small specialty high school in Minneapolis. That means a commitment to keeping the school strong and viable for years to come. Request a Tour of North (8th Grade)

STEM and the
International Baccalaureate Program

Given its tradition of success with Summatech, North Community High School will build a strong STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) focus under the umbrella of the academically challenging International Baccalaureate (IB) program.Once the school achieves full IB status, which is expected by the 2010 school year, it will be one of only 10 schools worldwide where students may earn the IB career certificate. new @ north Vision

POLARS TRAVEL THE UNIVERSE
Thursday, February 04, 2010 1:30 PM

The Exploradome from the Minneapolis Planetarium came to North on February 4th. Students lay on their backs on the floor and zoomed to everything from earth to the edge of the observable universe and anything in between.  The Exploration was projected on a HUGE dome by a fish-eye projector which gave a rather remarkable 3D effect. Students left with a new understanding of the scale of our galaxy and the vast distances separating celestial objects. Coordinated by Science Teacher Kathrine Rosok       Photos          Exploradome

POLARS REACH OUT TO HAITI
Wednesday, January 20, 2010 9:55 AM

The Polar/Haiti website contains resources on  News, Satellite Imagery (Google Earth), How you Can Help, Culture, History, Links, Polar Activities and a Forum for Comments.
Students and Teachers if you are doing anything related to the earthquake in Haiti let us know. We can take photos of classroom discussions, class work, projects etc.   Our Student Council is raising funds for Haiti. Buy a notebook and a donation will go to the Red Cross.
“Teacher Gretchen Kulas and the National Honor Society traveled to Coon Rapids Thursday to bag food for Haiti.  Although National Honor Society has participated in Feed My Starving Children numerous times in the past, the students were especially enthusiastic that this packing event benefited the people of Haiti.”      Photos                      View Forum Comments .
