The 1957-1958 wrestling team, coached by Ted Lange, had another stellar season.  The team had an 18-2-1 overall record and a 7-1 conference record good for 2nd place.

The team started the conference season against vocational.  The team won easily 48-5.

The second match of the season gave North their only blemish of the conference season.  Washburn, the eventual conference champion, won 23-19.

The remainder of the conference season consisted of victories against Central (46-10),

Henry (33-11), South (32-16), West (34-17), Marshall (25-19) and Roosevelt (25-19).

Non-conference opponents were defeated as easily as the conference opponents.  University High (36-16), Shattuck (38-13), Buffalo (24-20) and Bloomington (33-11) all fell to the Polars.  The Polars and Edina tied 23-23.

In the District meet, Washburn, the conference champion, outlasted the other schools to go to the State Tournament.

North finished second.  The team scores were: Washburn (105), North (85), Henry (47), Marshall (40), Vocational (34), South (31), Roosevelt (29), West (12), and Central (6).

John Longie was the star of the team.  He took both the conference championship and district championship in his weight division.  Because he won the district championship, Longie represented North at the State Wrestling Tournament.

After the season, Coach Lange resigned as North Head Wrestling Coach.
