Adapted Bowling
The Minnesota State High School League introduced Adapted Bowling as a high school sport during the 1999-2000 school year.  North's first team competed during the 2006-2007 school year.  The team came into existance when Bruce Nelson, a special education teacher, and Jeff Buszta, athletic director, were discussing activities that Bruce has his students participate in during the year.  Buszta asked how many students Nelson took bowling and he responded about 15.  Buszta then asked if the students liked bowling.  Again, Nelson responded "yes."  Buszta then asked Nelson if his students would like to participate in the MSHSL Adapted Bowling league.  Nelson was enthusiastic about the idea, and the two began finding how to initiate the team.  Plans were made and the team began it first match in the 2006-2007 school year against North Branch.  The team members were overjoyed when Mr. Buszta brought in team bowling shirts and then took a team photo.  The team also participated in the MSHSL Tournament.  One bowler, Aahmad Walker, placed second in the individual catagory.
