As with many of the women’s sports, soccer was played occaisonally as part of the Girl’s Athletic Association.  It was not until the 1980-1981 school year that Women’s soccer became a sport sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League.  Like many new sports, Women’s soccer started as a one-class sport.  It became a two-class sport in the 1997-1998 school year.
