Athletic Announcements - Week of May 1, 2017

Badminton:    The Polars’ defeated Minneapolis South and Minneapolis Roosevelt.  The went down to defeat to Minneapolis Henry

Baseball: The Polar Girls and Boys teams did not compete last week.

Softball:          The game versus St. Paul Humboldt was rained out.           

 

This week

Polars in the News

·         The boys basketball team will be honored by the Minnesota State Legislature on Monday, May 1.  The team and coaches will travel to the State Capitol in the afternoon to visit with the  House of Representatives.

 

·         Signing Day: On Monday, May 1, senior volleyball player, Ariel Pindegayosh will signing for her choice to play college volleyball at Waldorf University in Iowa.  Also, senior football player Phillip Scott made his decision to attend Concordia -St, Paul next year.  Come greet both athletes at the school cafeteria at 11:30am for a short presentation.

 

·         Athena Awards:  Congratulations to Ariel Pindegayosh for representing Minneapolis North as our Athena Award winner!  The Award goes to the most productive senior female student athlete.  Each of the Minneapolis Public High Schools select a representative to attend the annual recognition event.  On May 4, the Athena Awards are held at the Double Tree hotel in Bloomington.

Adaptive Bowling

The team bowls its last game at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park on Thursday at 1:00pm.

Badminton

The Polars host Minneapolis Southwest on Tuesday, May 2.  On Thursday, May 4 the Polars travel to Minneapolis Washburn. Each match starts at 4:00pm.

Baseball

The Polars travel to Minneapolis South on Wednesday, May 3. The first pitch is at 4:30pm at Van Cleve Park.

Softball

The Polars host Cristo Rey on Wednesday, May 3 at North Commons Field # 3.  It is a rescheduled game originally scheduled for May 5. The game starts at 5:00pm.  On Thursday May 4, the Polars travel to St. Paul Harding for a 4:30pm game.

 

Polar fastpitch home games are played on the synthetic field at Morgan Avenue and 16th Avenue North. The field was built by the Minnesota Twins and Owners, the Pohlad Family.

 

 

Track and Field

 

The Polar Track team not compete this week.

·         Please plan to watch the Polars first track and field meet in several years! The Polar Invitational is May 10 at Hobbs Field!  Events start approximately at 4:00pm

 

B-Squad Games (7-8th grade teams)

North (Anwatin/Franklin) baseball and softball games are scheduled to be played at the same location and time. On May 1 the baseball team only is scheduled to play Olson (Patriot Grey) at Patrick Henry HS.
