About Mr. Hansen
Mr. Hansen in his studio

I am very excited to be joining the team at North High School!  This is my sixth year teaching in the district, having spent the last five at Anwatin Middle School. This is an exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to bringing out the very best in each one of my students!

A bit about my background...

I grew up on a small farm just outside of Dillon, Montana where I learned to love anything outdoors.  My love of nature continues today and influences much of the work that I create.  I went to college at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where I studied Theater, Art, and Music.  After college, I worked a wide variety of jobs including: log home builder, server, camp counselor, construction worker, painter, artist, and actor. Eventually, I joined the Peace Corps and lived in Bulgaria where I taught High School English acquisition and helped start the first little league baseball club in the region. After the Peace Corps I worked as artisan and muralist.  Eventually, I went back to school and earned my Masters of Art Education from the University of Minnesota and have been teaching with MPS ever since.

When not teaching, I am an artist specializing in painting.  I have a studio space in the Solar Arts Building in NE Minneapolis that I share with two other MPS art teachers (Jeff Pilon and Ken Rivera).
