Kadonna Wilson with History Day ribbon
National history day is a research project and competition that students particpate in across the country and around the world. All 10th and 11th graders at North participate in history day each year, researching a topic of their choice and creating a product in the form of a presentation board, webpage, documentary or performance.
This year 16 North students were selected to move forward to the regional competition. North scholars shared their research on various topics including the advocacy of Ida B. Wells, the impact of barbie dolls on women's body image, and the Native American ghost dances. The judges expressed how impressed they were with North students and selected nine students to move on to the state competition.
Students recognized were:
Honorable Mention: Takyezia Lee, Serena Ballard, Gigi Villarreal-Griffin, Odell Wilson, Guillermao Cruz Hernandez, Luul Yusuf, and L.
Students going to State: Azhae'la Hanson, Lauryn Lumpkins, Tati Gross, Bryonna Marsh, Kadonna Wilson, Tylecia Chandler, Mishauna Mosby, A'Niyah Davis, and Ky'Mari Love.
A HUGE congratulations to these amazing history scholars!!!
