The 1958-1959 Skiing team, headed by Lars Kindem, was the conference champions.  The team went to the state meet and finished third.

The team was extremely successful at the conference meet, winning two of the three events to take the championship.  In the Cross Country event, North’s score of 55.19 was the best.  North

was followed by Washburn (57.17), West (68.02), Roosevelt (71.13), Edison (79.33) and South (131.33)

In the Ski Jumping, again North outclassed the rest of the conference.  The team scores were North (290.7), Roosevelt (262.5), Washburn (236.5), West (225.3), Henry (207), and Edison (190.3).

The slalom event stopped the Polars from a clean sweep.  In fact, North

finished LAST in this event.  The scores of the competing teams were: Washburn (129.6), Roosevelt (143.7), Edison (177.2) and North (181.3).

In the composite standings, North was declared the champion since they won two events. Washburn was second. Roosevelt was third. Edison was fourth.  West, Henry and South were incomplete since they

did not enter all events.

Clyde Brodt was the individual conference champion in ski jumping event.  Lee Holmer was the cross country skiing individual champion.  Mike Hartig finished 2nd to Brodt in jumping and Jim Bajari finished third in jumping.

The team placed third in the state meet.
