1957-1958 Men's Tennis Season

The 1958-1959 tennis team was coached by Carl Kroening.  Coach Kroening developed the tennis team to a fourth place finish in the conference.


The season began against Henry.  North won easily, 4-1.  The second match, against Vocational, was another Polar win, 4-1. The third game was the third win in a row when the Polars defeated South 5-0.  The winning streak reached four games when Southwest became the next Polar victim, 4-1.  the first half of the season ended with a loss to Washburn, 5-0.

The Polars returned to the winning side of the coin defeating Marshall 5-0. Roosevelt handed the Polars their second loss of the season, 4-1.  The team bounced back against Edison and won 5-0.  The team lost a close match to Central in game nine, 3-2.  The season ended with the teams seventh win when the Polars defeated West 4-1. 


The team ended with a 7-3 record.  The team was led by first singles player Fred Silvers.
