Chaun Webster is pictures standing next to a poetry display

Chaun Webster, co-owner of North Minneapolis bookstore, Ancestry Books, recently served a Loft Literary fellowship at North High.  During this fellowship he worked with students in the library and brought lessons to the classrooms.  He shared lessons and met with students in creative writing class, history of the African Diaspora class, and theatre classes.

Chaun also spent time immersed in North High Media Center's poetry collection and realized the poetry collection could use some updating.  Chaun applied and received a grant from the North Side Awesome Foundation to purchase new books for the media center.  He hand picked titles and authors that would be relevant and meaningful to expand the poetry repertoire of North High students.

Chaun is also a poet himself and has recently published his first book, GeNtry!fication or the Scene of the Crime, available from Noemi Press.  While there is a copy available at North High Media Center, use this link to purchase your own!

North High offers their greatest thanks to the Loft Literary Center, the Awesome Foundation, and Chaun Webster of Ancestry Books for this invaluable gift to North High students!
